Everything starts somewhere

This journey started like most, with an idea.  Good or Bad, to soon to tell.  After the big question, in Monterey, a series of events kicked off that changed our lives forever.  We had to sell our home, an accumulation of "stuff" from 25+ years of marriage, kids, living in different places - it seemed very daunting.  Oh yeah, let's not forget that we have no clue how to sail nor have we ever been on a sailboat of any kind.

The selling part started pretty easy.  Both our children where serving in the Armed Forces at this point so we had empty rooms.  One room for things we had not touched in 6 months with the intent of selling immediately.  The next room was for items we had touched, maybe not ready to sell but for sure would not fit on the boat.  If items were in this room more than a month without use, they got moved to room 1.  Then there was the 40 yard dumpster in the back yard awaiting its due.  This was quite a process, over several months.  Lots of Offer Up time.  The dumpster ended up several tons over the limit.  You wouldn't believe how much 💩 was in room 1.  Eventually the stacks became smaller and much more difficult to let go of.  Things like digitizing old photo albums in order to throw away the paper photos we found to be very hard.  There is certainly documents and things that we could not let go of.  This came to about three suitcases stored at my brother-in-laws, who also scored all my tools (lucky guy).  We did not want to pay for a storage unit so we had to get small and we did, it just took time, lots of patience and many intenese discussions.

The freaking house finally went on the market, sold in 4 hours 😢!  But the good news is it went to a fine couple, who had family in a nearby neighborhood.  Not to mention they offered us full price with no contingencies, can't say no to that right?  There was no debate about inspections or anything.  They just wanted the house, plain and simple.

Now things just got very real.  We had to leave our home behind.  Have enough "stuff" sold for the next part of the plan.  We shall talk more about how awesome it is to get rid of all the "stuff" later.  Wait what is the next part?  We still have no clue how to sail or whether we would even like it - kind of a big item 😵.
